About the Commission
The zoning commission is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to the township trustees on applications to rezone land or change the text of the existing Zoning Resolution.
The zoning commission makes recommendations to the elected board of trustees who can accept, modify, deny or override the recommendation from the zoning commission by majority vote.
The township zoning commission plays an important role in updating the Plain Township Zoning Resolution and Land Use Plan. The board of trustees would like to update each of these documents in 2026, and that work begins with the township zoning commission.
Only residents living within the unincorporated area of Plain Township outside the New Albany city limits are eligible to serve on the township zoning commission.
Applications received by the published deadline will be provided to the board of trustees for consideration. The Plain Township Board of Trustees plans to conduct interviews of candidates at the Wednesday, February 4 board meeting at 6:30 pm at the Plain Township Fire Station located at 9500 Johnston Road. Once a candidate is selected and confirmed, all applicants will be notified. Applications will be retained for 12 months for any future openings on this commission.
