Fire Safety: Rachael Ray House Fire August 9, 2020

Rachael Ray started her 15th season of the Rachael Ray Show by sharing her family’s personal experience of her home fire in upstate New York on August 9, 2020.

Home fires can occur at any time, to anyone and when we least expect them. This fire was started by an ember from the fireplace which caused a chimney fire and lit the roof on fire. Their fireplace is inspected twice a year, but Ray stated yesterday on Good Morning America that an animal had gone into the chimney over the summertime and had contributed to the fire conditions.

Ray has been a long-time supporter of firefighters, the fire service and fire safety. She is the first female board member of Denis Leary’s Leary Firefighters Foundation.

Plan and practice your home fire escape plan, install smoke alarms in every sleeping room, outside each separate sleeping area, and on every level of the home including the basement. Remember to Close Before You Doze.
