Fire Chief Jack Rupp to retire January 1, 2023

At the November 7 meeting of the Plain Township Board of Trustees, the Trustees accepted a letter of retirement notice from Fire Chief Jack Rupp. Chief Rupp will retire effective January 1, 2023, and will be taking well-earned vacation time through January 1.

Please join us in recognizing Chief Rupp. He has been a member of the fire service for 49 years, with 21 of those years with the Plain Township Fire Department. Chief Rupp was appointed Assistant Fire Chief in January 2002 and appointed Fire Chief in 2020 when former Fire Chief John Hoovler retired.

Also at the meeting, the Trustees named Assistant Fire Chief Patrick Connor as Acting Fire Chief of Plain Township beginning November 8 through January 1. The Trustees also approved the appointment of Patrick Connor to Fire Chief as of January 2, 2023.

Plans to commemorate the retirement of Jack Rupp, and the promotion and appointment of Patrick Connor, have not yet been finalized, but we expect to do so in the coming months.
